The Opportunity

Hilco Merchant Resources is looking to add the expertise of a Sales Associate of Off-price Goods to their growing Wholesale team. We are experiencing significant market growth due to a number of factors that suggest steady acceleration for years to come. This person will thrive in a highly stable company setting that is also extremely entrepreneurial and team oriented, but will also be empowered to be independent and autonomous. This position will involve strategizing with management, performing all activities associated with selling goods for resale and the opportunity to establish and build strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with management and our buying team members to develop and implement an overall buying and resale strategy and plan designed to purchase and resell consumer goods to off-price and other retailers and through large marketplaces (such as Amazon and Walmart).
  • Possess pre-existing relationships with networks of buyers from off-price and other retailers (brick and mortar and e-commerce) and leverage those relationships to gain an understanding of their buying plans for integration into Hilco’s strategies and plans.
  • Assist the buying team with acquiring consumer goods consistent with the strategies and plans.
  • Build and assist with building financial models illustrating net return to Hilco from the purchase and resale of consumer goods, including identifying and including estimated sourcing, sorting, logistics, and other costs.
  • Create effective promotional materials for consumer goods purchased by or available to Hilco for resale, distribute these materials to your and Hilco’s relevant network of buyers from off-price and other retailers (brick and mortar and e-commerce), identify and remain in contact with interested parties, following up and timely providing responses to follow up inquiries, negotiate price and other terms and conditions consistent with the internal financial models, and CLOSE.
  • Critically evaluate and compare actual financial results against modeled financial results and develop and implement changes based on learnings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 3+ years of sales experience selling goods into the off-price space
  • Must have solid and proven hunting and closing skills
  • Willingness to travel 25% throughout North America
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels, both verbally and in writing
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
